It's not every day a coffee farm is also an UNESCO World Heritage Site. At Hacienda La Amistad, over 90% of their sprawling 4,000 acres is a protected biological corridor. On the other 10% is a variety of farming, including coffee on about 300 acres, where they produce wonderfully consistent coffee emblematic of the quality Costa Rica has offered for decades. This is a sweet coffee from all angles - red apples, caramel, and cinnamon roll.

The Farm

One of the most storied and unique farms in the America's, Finca La Amistad has been growing for over 100 years. Roberto Montero leads a fully organic, Smithsonian Bird Friendly, is fully organic, located within a UNESCO World Heritage Site of one of the largest forest reserves in Central America... what more could you ask for? Oh, they are also entirely hydroelectric and built on a closed-loop composting system. If there was a model for large-scale coffee farmers, this is it.
