Tasting Notes

Strawberry · Milk Chocolate · Mixed Berry Jam

Unblended is one of the most progressive coffee companies in the world - a collaboration of top-tier, well known Colombian growers helping the next generation learn and excel. This is a prime example of their work; one of the most balanced co-ferment lots I have ever tasted. Sometimes notes can be hard to pick out, or require some A/B testing, but I personally guarantee you will be slapped in the face with strawberry jam and milk chocolate, in both flavor and texture. The reason being? Their process uses wine yeast, fruit sugars and strawberries during the fermentation process, imbuing it with deep sweetness while also showcasing Sebastian Ramirez and company's skill in balancing co-ferments.

The Farm

One of the more sought after exporters in coffee, Unblended is unique in that it is essentially the growers themselves marketing and exporting their own coffee. This is not common, and is especially exciting to us as we can be confident a good price is being delivered to farmers, and equally as importantly are being actively assisted in education and planning in the future of coffee.

The Cup

Kozlow generally tries to cultivate a set of coffees that both delights and challenges your mentality and palette in relationship to coffee. This one only challenges it in a single way; I can't believe this is coffee!

There's no fussing about with this one. Strawberry, in all its forms. Jam, compote, fresh, dipped in chocolate, we brought this on to give you an accessible first dip into the world of co-ferments, a new horizon in the coffee world.

Brewing Recommendations

Easily brewed, I find myself preferring a classic, stronger cup. If you have a drip machine, do what you normally would. I highly recommend trying this out on ice as well.
